Pepeha

Another All About Me activity, but it's still fun if you're in Mrs Hardaker's class! Mrs Hardaker decided to make our pepehas on Tellagami. With Tellagami, you can personalise your own character, record your voice, then WALA! You've got a talking animated character!

Tellagamis can be useful for anything

Here is my pepeha:

Edmund Hillary

So, it's back to the time at school when you have to research! But this time, it was a bit more interesting... we got to choose an NZ hero, and make an 'All About Him/her' on the hero. I choose Edmund Hillary, and i created a PowerPoint presentation on him. This was my presentation:

This presentation took me about a week to finish, and somehow, i really enjoyed it, and i can't wait until i get to share other cool things I've been doing!

Tagxedo

So, what shall we do that's fun while half of our hub (Totara Hub) goes swimming... Oh, Yes! An all about me activity... but what shall we use to make an all about me that looks cool? But as we always know, Mrs Hardaker always have learning the fun way usually planned.

"I would like everyone to jump onto your devices and make a tagxedo about yourself."

And so everyone rushed onto their devices and started looking for websites that you can create a tagxedo. It took us quite a while to find the right site because some websites required Adobe Flash and some needed Microsoft Services or something. But we all finally found the right site.

After a few days I finished my tagxedo. This was mine:

If you would like to create your own tagxedo like my one, just click this link:

At least now most of us, hopefully all, have finished the tagxedo. Unfortunately, the ones who haven't finished them won't be able to share theirs!

Superheroes

Look at that! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a dog stuffed in a hotdog that just flew off a catapult? No! It's a superhero!

Hey everyone! It's time for you to check out what we've been doing on the first/second week of school! Can you guess what we were doing? Well, we were creating superheroes!

Pretty cool, huh?! You can create your own at Marvel.com! After we created these, we wanted more fun added into it. And so I thought, wouldn't it be cool to have my face on the superhero! This is what my superhero looked like after a bit of editing:

I thought that this was amazing! So I showed the teacher (Mrs Hardaker), and she thought it was amazing!
So she yelled out to the class, "Everyone, if you want your superhero to have your face on it, email it to Sam." And so I got lots of emails saying 'Sam can you print this' 'Sam please do this' etc.

If YOU would like your superhero to have your face on it, just take a screenshot of your superhero, take a picture of you, write your email (so I can send it back) then email it to me (my email: slamuelrock@icloud.com).

I'll give it to you in no time!

Market Day

Last week on Friday, almost the whole school got to create their own product for a market day. Our class was selling juice, the only juice around! I spent a lot of hard work creating a poster for our juice. This was my poster:
After Market Day, i tried some juice, and it was amazing! In the juice there were red apples, oranges and a squeeze of lemon. Our juice was one of the most selling products. We sold about 172 cups of juice, and I can't wait to see what other cool things our class will do next year!

Advertising

What is advertising???

What is advertising?
It is when there is like a sale on a newspaper or a video on a site about a product, and sometimes there are funny, cute or sad stuff to make you buy it.

Why does a consumer advertise?
So that people could see how cool their product is, and then more people will buy it, which means companies getting richer.

What have you learnt about advertising?
That advertising makes 100 and thousands and even more kids make their parents buy them a cool product if they watch a cool ad.

What surprised you?
How many kids whine and tantrum just because of how cool an advertisement could be.

What disgusted you?
The same as the last question: that there are so many kids that whine and tantrum just because of how cool an advertisement could be.

What is in our food?

What is in our food?
Written by Sam Holloway

Want to know more about how sugar is bad for you? Click here to see a documentary on it (or scroll down to the end of this post).

The reason you are reading this story is because you want to know what is in our food? Read on to learn.

Everyday men should only have about 9 teaspoons of sugar and children 4 teaspoons. Most people go over the limit, and could get diabetes, a heart attack, or you might even need your teeth pulled out!

If you drink lots of juice, and I mean like 5 and-over-ish bottles a day, any age, your teeth would rot, and possibly all your teeth would have to be pulled out!

Rotten teeth:
*

Did you know?
Did you know that once a 2 year-old girl had to get 6 of her teeth pulled out, because her mother let her drink too much fizzy and/or juice! That's why you need to look after yourself too, not just your mum.

Every year, people, kids and adults, are getting fatter and fatter. As products are getting cheaper, they are also putting way more sugar than you're meant to have! Eg: kids should have about 4 teaspoons or under a day, and Tiny Teddies have about 2x more sugar than kids are meant to have. They have about 7 teaspoons of sugar!!!

Same as low fat or fat free products. As they lower the fat, they increase the sugar. Ever since they lowered the fat, they increased the sugar.

That's why people are getting diabetes, and eating too much sugar; they are eating fat-free stuff. That's why I think that people should stop fat-free products, and lower the sugar, so a lot of the trouble with sugar now will be stopped.
